Rotary Club of Calcutta South West chartered on 26 December, 1956 began the journey from 26 January, 1957 with the Charter presentation ceremony and meeting under the presidentship of PP J S Mathur. The club was sponsored by Rotary Club of Calcutta.

Whistle is the weekly bulletin published by the club. The name whistle is being derived from the whistle of the ship and reminds the members of the good old days when they used to meet at BNR officer’s Club.
