Rotary Club of Calcutta South West chartered on 26 December, 1956 began the journey from 26 January, 1957 with the Charter presentation ceremony and meeting under the presidentship of PP J S Mathur. The club was sponsored by Rotary Club of Calcutta.
Vision centre inauguration – Report

The “Vision Centre” at RCC Sherpur was inaugurated ON 9 MAY, 2010 at Sherpur, Mograhat Block 1. The Vision center is one of the three Vision Centers for which RCCSW has received grant form the East India Rotary Foundation. The center would be operated by the RCC Human Development Centre in association with RCC Progressive United Club.
The centre was inaugurated by Dr Abul Hasnad, MLA Mograhat West, Shri Manash Saha, Block President, Mr Mananendra Mandal, Sherpur Anchal. Shri Amitabha Sardar, Block Development officer. The room for the Center has been donated by Shri Abdul Hussain Mondal, member of RCC Progressive United Club.
Presently the centre will be operative thrice in a week. If any patient needs cataract operation, they would be commuted to Jaynagar Eye Hospital operated by RCC Human Development Centre and the regular post operation monitoring would be done at the Vision centre.
To celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Rabindra Nath Tagore on the occasion a cultural program was organized by the RCC Sherpur Progressive united club. Scholarship of Rs 1000 each was handed over to five girls of the area. The next two centre at Jaynagar and Pathar Pratima would be inaugurated soon.
