Rotary Club of Calcutta South West chartered on 26 December, 1956 began the journey from 26 January, 1957 with the Charter presentation ceremony and meeting under the presidentship of PP J S Mathur. The club was sponsored by Rotary Club of Calcutta.

Entrepreneurship Awareness Workshop – A Report
RCCSW organized a 3 days workshop in association with St Xavier’s Kolkata on 21- 22-23 August 2009 at St Xavier’s. Thirty five under graduate students including a medical student participated in the work shop. Dr. Fr. John Felix Raj SJ, Principal St Xavier’s College, Kolkata inaugurated the workshop along with President Subhro.
The three days workshop was addressed by Rtn Subhasis Bandopadhyay, PDG Aniruddha Roychowdhury, Rtn Dr Arup Mitra, Mr Ayan Chattopadhyay, Dy. Manager, Bajaj Allianz, Prof S M Gomes. The Enterprenuership project of six teams was evaluated by Rtn Subhro Banerjee, IPP Debasis De, Rtn Siddhartha Ghosh and Rtn Partha Halder was also present on the occasion.
Independence day Project – RCC Hussain Shah
The Independence Day was celebrated at RCC Hussain Shah. The celebration began with flag hoisting. Food packets were distributed amongst 100 local children. Then an eye detection camp was conducted for the members of RCC Hussain Shah. The camp was coordinated by the members of Rotaract club of Calcutta South West in association with Rotarians and members of RCC. About sixty localities participated in the camp. Gifts, mask and cap was given to children who participated in the camp.
Rotarians present on the occasion were President Subhro Banerjee, IPP Debasis De, PP Nirmal Kr Roy Chowdhury, PP S S Sarengi, Rtn Sumit Kr Mitra, Rtn Siddhartha Ghosh, Rtn Partha Halder. Also present were Rtn Soma, Rtr Rahul Saha, PP Rtr Rahul Banerjee, IPP Rtr Minakshee and first lady Manashree.
A shelter form the rain – A Project
Two schools will be donated plastic tarpaulin to make their students a bit more comfortable in this rainy season. One of the schools is located at RCC Sherpur and the other one is at Punna near Barisha. This project is sponsored by Rtn Partha Halder and Mr Suresh Agarwal, a well-wisher.
Report on First Project of Rotary Year 2009-10
About 50 Saplings of Mango, 100 Saplings of Banana and 50 Saplings of Coconut were distributed among needy villagers of RCc Sherpur on 2 August 2009. Some of the saplings were also planted by the members.
A team comprising of President Subhro Banerjee, Secretary Dr. Sumit Kr. Mitra, PP Nirmal Roychoudhury, PP Satya Sunder Sarangi, Rtn Siddhartha Ghosh and Mr. Partha Halder visited RCC Sherpur. After the project the team had a joined meeting with the members of RCC Sherpur and planned the projects for till December 2009. The team interacted with two local girls studying in class eleven and assured them all possible support to the girls so that they can complete their education.
